John Saunders reports: The Alexander Cup Final, the Surrey County Chess Association's team knock-out competition, was held at the neutral venue of the Adelaide pub, Teddington, on 14 April 2023. The finalists were Battersea CC and Kingston CC.

Going into the match, Kingston were seeking to retain the Alexander Cup. This was their sixth success in the competition (the others occurring in 1931/32, 1945/46, 1974/75, 1975/76 and 2021/22). Battersea have won it seven times (1926/27, 1928/29, 1932/33, 1933/34, 1937/38, 1938/39, 1952/53).
