From the BCM report, November 1969, p331: The eighth congress organized by the Glasgow Chess League at the end of September was the strongest, both in numbers and quality, so far. A record entry of 268 was received and if the numbers go on increasing then it may well prove necessary to move from the Langside Halls. The top tournament, the Invitation event, comprised twelve players, five non-Scottish and seven home players...

The final scores were: R. D. Keene, D. N. L. Levy, and R. McKay 3½; L. Barden and M. Fuller 3; J. Montgomery and D. B. Pritchard 2½; M. Fallone, H. Golombek, and C. W. Pritchett 2; D. B. A. Hunter 1½; and V. A. Nye 1. The event was a five-round Swiss with two prizes, one of £40 the other of £20. Prizewinners in the other events were as follows— Candidates.—A. F. Morgan 4; A. J. Booth 2½.

Glasgow Girls.—M. McGinn 4; B. Burke and M. Harrigan 3½. Under-fifteen.—D. N. Cherry 5½; S. Swansen [sic - probably Swanson - JS] 5; W. A. Cruikshank and J. Dunn 4½. Under-fourteen.—D. Hughes 5½; J. Brannan and J. Burke 5. Under-thirteen.—M. Chalmers and S. Wyllle 5; B. Lonergan and L. Macdonald 4½. Junior.—A. Muir 10½; G. Kerr, R. Ross, and J. Smith 9.
